This two pronged fishing hook had a wad of kelp stuck to it |

Yikes! Fish hooks scare me! So glad your boy didn't pick it up in his mouth! Thanks for the reminder (we have ponds nearby, so we have to watch for hooks on the pond banks). Beautiful beach!
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I was so shocked the first time I saw that thing on the beach. So nasty. Good point to also remember to be cautious around pond banks, thanks for pointing that out!
DeleteI live in an area with lots of lakes, ponds, and pets. One of the things I am always on the look out for is a stray fishhook. Those things cause big boo-boos even on humans. Manna doesn't walk along the water, but I worry about other people's pets and wild animals when I see dangerous things laying about.

I'm glad you're aware of them and are always on the lookout for those nasty fishhooks! They definitely can cause big boo boos on people too. My brother once cast his rod inside the house and the hook got caught on my hand! I will never forget that, it was so awful!
DeleteYowch, glad you spotted it first! I always wish Matilda weren't afraid of water so she could have more fun at the beach, but the hazards sometimes don't seem worth going near the water. Always fun to dig in the sand, though I worry about trash on land, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad my husband found the hook before she pawed or grabbed it in her mouth! We have to be aware of potential hazards along the beach, & everywhere else too. You just never know.
DeleteYIKES! That is a scary find! Glad your husband found it before it could injure anyone. Safety is always important...even at the beach.
ReplyDeleteMe too! He has a good eye.
DeleteOh, that's VERY scary! What a great reminder!
ReplyDeleteCammie!
Yes, so scary! Now I'm always on the lookout for fish hooks.
DeleteGood eye pops

Yup!!
DeleteSharing your tips and Pinning!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing!
DeleteWe've never taken the boys to a beach but would like to someday. These are great tips to keep in mind!
ReplyDeleteThe beach is great, but dangers lurk!
DeleteVery important post. Keeping track of your dogs at the beach is no joke
ReplyDeleteSimon
You've got that right Simon!
DeleteI would never think to watch out for stray hooks. Tells you how often I go to the beach! Thanks for the safety tip!
ReplyDeleteI love the beach, but now I'm more careful.
DeleteYikes I forgot about the fishermen when at the beach - thanks for the reminder
ReplyDeleteImportant to be mindful of it!
DeleteEek! We've never run into one of those although a fisherman threatened to kick Mr. N once!
ReplyDeleteGasp!! A fisherman threatened to kick sweet Mr N!? How dare he! I hope you told him off! How horrible.
Deleteyikes! fishing hooks always scare me when we go down to the lake and river. Good thing you found that be fore your pup did.
ReplyDeleteThey scare me too. I once got a hook stuck in my palm when my brother was playing around with his fishing rod in the house. It was super painful!
DeleteOh that is super scary! Mine don't ever go close to water, but for those that do - YIKES!
ReplyDeleteIt is scary! They can get in seaweed & you wouldn't see them!
DeleteWow! I never thought about fish hooks on the beach. And most people walk bare footed!
ReplyDeleteI know right!? Ugh.
DeleteGreat reminder! I'm so glad you spotted that and removed it so some other dog didn't suffer any consequences. It would be pretty hard to spot fish hooks in the sand and surf, even if you remember to watch out for them. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled next time I take my Sadie to the beach.
ReplyDeleteYou really do need to be careful. If you see fishing line, there's probably a hook nearby!
DeleteGreat advice! We only go to the dog beach but that doesn't mean we should assume it's safe! Love Dolly
ReplyDeleteTrue! Never assume. Fishing line & hooks could wash up anywhere.
DeleteThis was a really great read! My parents have recently moved to the beach and invited me to come down with Gracie and Echo. They have never been to the beach, so it's good to know what I need to watch out for!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katie, glad you enjoyed it. How fun, first time at the Beach for them! You'll have to do one of your awesome videos when you do.
DeleteThat's scary. I thought you were going to say jellyfish.
ReplyDeleteThat's scary. I thought you were going to say jellyfish.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely jellyfish too! They are awful if they stink your dog's paw. Thanks for that reminder!
